Assessment Process

Performances will only be considered on the following basis:

  • The performance demonstrates a unique cultural activity, including dance, a form of martial arts, vocal performance or other theatrical display.

  • There is diversity in the cultures on display. The Committee reserves the right to decline an application by a performer on the basis that the entertainment program features more than two displays by that culture.

  • Participants are asked to remain in costume throughout the day, to enrich the festival atmosphere.

Excluded Performances

Performances which are of a political nature will not be approved.

To protect the inclusive nature of the event, religious performances will not be approved. While multiculturalism inherently means a diversity of religious faiths, it is recognised that division can be caused if religious beliefs are overtly promoted.

Performances which are not cultural in nature and are purely for the purpose of promoting a business activity will not be approved.

Public and Products Liability Insurance

All performers must provide evidence of adequate Public & Products Liability insurance by either:

  • Providing a current ‘Certificate of Currency’ for Public and Products Liability Insurance of at least $20,000,000. It is Council’s preference to be listed as an interested or associated party, however this is not a requirement.

OR

  • Requesting to be included in the Festival's Public and Products Liability insurance. This will be provided at no cost to the performers.

All performers are responsible for any personal accident to themselves, their employees, volunteers, contractors or agents whilst on site.
